ABOUT CONFERENCE

The conference “Digital Construction 2026. Vilnius”, held for the sixteenth time, will bring together leaders from the construction sector, public-sector decision-makers, real estate developers, design and contracting companies, and international experts to discuss the key changes driving digital transformation in the construction market.

Over the past fifteen years, the conference has become Lithuania’s leading platform for shaping the direction of digital construction. Each year, the event addresses regulatory developments and shares practical experience in applying BIM (Building Information Modeling): how to define requirements, reduce project delivery risks, and ensure that contracting authorities' objectives are achieved.

Main theme of the 2026 conference: BIM in Public Procurement – Challenges and Practice

In Lithuania, the application of BIM methodology in public projects is already mandatory. However, the sector still faces a fundamental question: do these legal requirements actually help achieve the core project objectives—quality, timely delivery, and cost control?

In practice, stakeholders often encounter insufficiently defined briefs, differing interpretations, and disputes regarding the scope and level of detail of data. The conference will examine how to avoid such situations and how to turn BIM requirements into a truly effective project management tool.

Programme focus

This year’s conference program covers the entire lifecycle of a public project—from preparing BIM requirements to their implementation and data management.

Topics will include:

  • how to formulate BIM requirements so that they are clear and do not increase project delivery risk;

  • the practice of the Scandinavian countries and what Lithuania can adopt from it;

  • how artificial intelligence can be applied in digital construction;

  • how spatial data is used in e-permitting processes;

  • how digital city models are being developed and the impact they have on design quality;

  • how to address intellectual property and data quality issues in public projects.

The practical presentations will feature specific examples from Lithuania and across Europe, providing valuable insight into what works and which mistakes are worth avoiding.

Discussion on the real market situation

One of the key highlights of the conference will be the panel discussion: “Does BIM genuinely improve project quality, or does it increase process complexity?”

The discussion will address whether clients are sufficiently prepared to formulate competent briefs for BIM model development, whether project teams have the maturity to work effectively in a BIM environment, and how to ensure the achievement of project objectives while avoiding disputes and excessive requirements.

Showcasing the best BIM projects

During the conference, the best projects submitted to the “Lithuanian BIM Projects 2026” competition will also be presented, showcasing BIM practices successfully implemented in real projects.
